Rob Reinhardt

We’re on the verge of announcing our 2021 classes.    We ran a number of classes in the summer and fall of 2020, and we’ll be continuing our enhanced safety protocols for classes next year.    These protocols include:

  • Reduced Class sizes, especially for venues that don’t have the space for adequate social distancing in the classroom setting.  This means classes will sell out sooner than in past years.
  • Keeping hand sanitizer and gloves at hand for staff and guests
  • We serve the food to guests to limit the contact of tongs and condiments.
  • Encouraging the use of facemasks in indoor settings.

Refund policy:   In the event that we are forced to cancel a class due to provincial government regulations, or our instructors are demonstrating symptoms, we will offer you a free transfer to a future class, or refund your class registration fee.

Cancellation policy: In the event that a student needs to cancel, we offer a full refund up to 7 days before the class.    Since most of our classes sell out, a refund after that date will depend on whether we have a waiting list, or can fill that seat with a last minute inquiry.

We’re extremely excited to announce that TWO of our instructors filmed an episode of Food Network’s “Fire Masters”.   Interestingly enough, out of 30 contestants for Season 2 of the show, they ended up competing against each other in the same episode.

Rob Reinhardt and John Thomson are friends, business partners, and of course – competitors.    Obviously only one of the two Champions can come out on top, but when they both bring so much to the arena, there’s no way to predict the outcome.

It started early in the morning on October 10, 2018 – when these two pitmaster ran into each other in the lobby of a hotel in Hamilton, Ontario.   They instantly knew what was up – and it made the day that much more exciting.

Tune in on Thursday, May 28 to see the exciting battle!

Series Synopsis:

Enter the inferno in the exhilarating food competition series Fire Masters. In each episode, three chefs push their grilling talents to the limit as they do battle in fiery culinary challenges, cooking up creative, mouthwatering, flame-kissed dishes. One chef is eliminated in each of the first two rounds. The last chef standing goes head-to-head with a Fire Masters judge in an epic third and final round, vying for $10,000 cash and the coveted title of Fire MastersChampion!

Another BBQ season is coming to a close up in Canada, but head instructor Rob is gearing up for a couple major events – Prairie Smoke & Spice has been invited to two prestigious competitions in the US – the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue, and the American Royal World Series of BBQ.   These events will be held in late October in Lynchburg, TN and Kansas City, KS respectively.  This will cap off a pretty amazing season, after being asked to represent Canada at this year’s Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

We’ve had a growing number of inquiries from people who are interested in next year’s classes.  You can reserve seats in Saskatchewan classes now right here.

We will announce dates in December, with Saskatchewan classes announced at the beginning of the month and other provinces in early January.   We’ll announce everything on our social media channels so don’t forget to follow along:

Have a great winter and happy smokin’!

Another season of BBQ classes has come to a close.  We appreciate everyone’s support for a record-setting year… almost 20 classes held across  Canada, and introduced a few new ones – our first class in Ontario was held in Ottawa to 2 groups of very enthusiastic participants.  We ran our full-program advanced competition secrets class in Calgary to a full group, several of whom are already raking in the awards.

We plan to spread our wings wider in 2017!   Stay tuned for class registration – Saskatchewan dates will be open by December 1, with other provinces to follow in early January.    Have a great summer!

Yoder Smokers, in conjunction with Prairie Smoke & Spice BBQ, are proud to bring one of the USA’s top pitmasters to the Queen City for BBQ classes in March 2016.   AndyAndy_bio_pic Groneman is a 25-time Grand Champion cook from Kansas City, KS and one of the nation’s most prolific and experienced BBQ teachers.  “Andy truly represents the best in BBQ & grilling education”, says Rob Reinhardt, owner of Prairie Smoke & Spice and Canada’s largest BBQ school. “We are excited to welcome him to Saskatchewan”.   Andy has taught classes from New York state to Langley, BC and has toured Australia twice with his grills and expertise.

Three classes will be offered, including two weeknight grilling classes and a full-day advanced “Pitmaster” class.   Since Andy and Rob both cook on Yoder grills, they will be the primary grills used the class.   The classes are meant to develop skills on all types of grills and smokers, so other grilling equipment will be present also.

Registration and class details are available at www.bbqclass.ca
